Inspirational Fridays

Its been a mad mad mad week. The extra work that I talked about came in by way of email setting out my very exciting schedule for the next 3 weeks. Even my boss said it looks like i'm going to be totally swamped. He said if I couldn't cope I should let him know which is super awesome and characteristically nice of him but truth is even if I was totally drowning, I wouldn't say a word. Anyway, am beyond glad its Friday and colleagues and I have plans to leave to on time and go stuff our faces with cheap seafood.

In addition to threatening to cut me off after 6 months, my friends have taken to placing bets on me in front of me. Great guys, i'm sitting right here. And emailing me to give me kind reminders not to be that girl. Haha I don't know what I'd do without all of you. xx

Cuteness Overload

I wonder if I can fit into one of those super cute military jackets from the Stella/ Gap Kids collaboration. Why didn't they have such cute clothes when I was a kid?

Its hilarious how her dog is barely bigger than her Starbucks cup. And its got such a funny little face.

Mondays are gross and today even more so. I find myself looking forward to Saturday already. Even so, there is much to be thankful for. And so I am.

Like an amazing shoe closet, we imagine but never quite believe until we see that its actually totally possible. This is desktop picture now and is what I will henceforth aim for. Eating is totally overrated.

Big boss came by last night and ask if I could take on more work. How do you say no really? But its all good. Excellent for that matter. Work is mad but good. Boss is his usual awesome self. Colleagues are hilarious. All my reservations about moving were unnecessary after all.

What I would rather do

So boss asked if I wasn't doing the law thing what would I do? I said not work. HAHA. Ok or maybe work for Chloe so I can get new handbags fresh off the runway.

Work at French Vogue and stare at her. Sigh.

<3 omnipresent BB despite achey thumbs.

Work on mixing things up. <3 the colour variation on her speedy. And consider bangs again.

Finished the mother of all drafting yesterday and am feeling lighter and happier today. Also, I realised the favourite part of my work day is the ride home.

Caveat Emptor

In keeping with the law school theme, this is pretty much one of the few things I actually remember from Property Law because it was just so much pain and suffering. Even during PLC, nobody in class had the right answer when we were working on completion accounts. And so I digress. It really means buyer beware, when you buy a property, go into the purchase with your eyes wide open because the seller will no longer be liable for anything once the sale has gone through. Contractually, it is very sound advice and strangely, applicable in more ways than one.

Well hello there October. Might need to get started on Christmas shopping already.

Work is abit of a blur with files and files of neverending documents to plough through. Drafting isn't much fun either. Would rather be running off to court to fight some application than sitting here drafting charges.

A gamble or a calculated risk? A leap of faith or plain stupid blind faith? Acceptance or compromise? A rose by any other name really.

Increasingly, am just sick and tired of justifying my decisions to others. Whether well meaning or malicious, I don't see the point of being put in the position where I have to.

If it looks like it works and it feels like it works, it works.

I live for my weekends of sleeping in, lazy brunches, long walks and the people I love.

Some things are best said face to face.

Moratoriums

When I was in law school, we signed a moratorium to confirm that we would only start applying for jobs after a certain date. It really just meant that once we passed the said date, everybody was out there frantically applying for jobs and hoping to be offered pupillage positions at our desired firms. There was this one firm I thought I wanted to join because I thought I wanted to practice in this certain area but in the end, I took up another offer instead. And so here I am, some four years later, at the very firm which I wanted to join, doing completely different work from what I originally intended to do. The truth is the area I thought I wanted to practice in was not what I imagined it would be. Well, all I really have to say is that God has his plans for me and only He knows what I want in a month or a year or even a decade later.I am thankful for the journey I've taken with my career despite the numerous painful transitions. I take great comfort in the fact that He holds my future and my forever and there is simply nothing for me to worry about save as to just enjoy the journey laid out before me.

I remember reading about moratoriums when I was sitting beside you on the plane and how it spoke to me. I also remember seeing you read it too and wondering what you thought about it. Perhaps sometimes the importance of certain things are overemphasized and I see now that a moratorium on them makes so much sense.

Anyway so much for status quo really but like I've said time and again, patience is a virtue and good is worth waiting for. I'm quite content with taking my time instead of succumbing to what everyone expects me to do. Everyone has a different story.

Meanwhile, these are absolutely gorgeous.

And I love her so.

Everything with Fries

For all intents and purposes, I think the weekend went well thanks to awesome awesome friends on gold star behaviour. Hehe. So all the OMG-ing turned out to be quite unnecessary. Where things go from here is still somewhat unclear but status quo is good.

More and more, I find that its the simple things that make me really happy.

Its been a mad year but the unexpected keeps things fresh and new. I think that's really the theme for this year - newness galore. This year will end better than how it begun. Woot.

Newness

And here we go again. Its abit of a lull from the franticness that was previously, but the work is exceeding tedious and rather dull. There is less running to court as well which is somewhat frustrating. I should not be complaining, I know.

The good thing is some friends are nearer now so lunch plans are slightly more exciting than the usual da-bao-and-eat-in variety. Also, nutella cupcakes are a hop and a skip away which is always comforting although they never seem to have any left by the time i actually get there.

Word for the season is, as always, patience.

Haphazard

I thought I was done with major life decisions for the year but clearly I wasn't. Another one has been made. Please agree that it will be good. A dear friend joked at the start of the year that I seemed to be making a pasttime out of making major life changing decisions and she sure is right. I do hope that this will be the last one, at least for this year anyways.

Again, I thought I was done with this so I'm not quite sure why we are suddenly back at the same place where we were some months ago. I wish you would say more but you don't. Part of me wants to ask but I don't. So once again, we'll see.
